On December the 30 th 2024, Margorie Ann Soden breathed her last breath here on
Earth. Born Margorie Ann Crawford, she had a couple of different aliases she adopted over the
years as loved ones and friends generously donated as terms of endearment. Margie or Marge,
the most common, was used by all. Huggy Bear, Aunt Moechee, and Sweetie were a few others
that were used depending on who you were.
Margie was born on October the 20 th , 1946 in Tempe Arizona to James Douglas (JD)
Crawford and Louise Winn Crawford. Margie spent her childhood in Arizona before moving back
to Texas at the age of 16, where she finished High School. She lived in San Antonio with her
mother’s sister Ellen Marie and husband Leroy Stofa. The years she spent growing into
womanhood with her aunt, uncle and cousins was lived enjoying good food, gatherings, love
and dancing. It was at one of those dance halls called Papa Days, that she met, kissed and fell
in love with Wilson Howard “PeeWee” Soden, the man she would end up spending her life with
until his unfortunate passing in January of 2024. Their union lasted a total of 55 years.
Margie was a woman who understood the true virtues in life. She was a hard worker her
entire life, working in the baking industry. She carried this trade over into her personal life by
creating fabulous desserts for her loved ones. She was a kind and loving soul to her friends and
family, giving all she had to anyone who was in need. Some of her passions were dancing in her
younger days, bowling, throwing darts, and shooting pool. She always enjoyed these activities
with a cold drink and good music. Playing cards, whether it was 31, Liverpool Rummy or
Dealer’s Choice became a favorite as well.
Margie’s entire life was surrounded by family and friends that truly appreciated her kind
and loving soul that she was unabashed to share. This was what made her greatest decision
she ever made possible. God knows the heart and in Jeremiah 17:10 it states, He tests us and
gives each according to their ways. In 2003, Margie was called by God, baptized, and never
looked back. She was a most loyal, obedient and loving Christian soldier for her God and
Creator. This was easily recognized by her actions and extension of herself toward others.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 55 years, and brother
Dudley Qualls. As she never had any biological children, she is survived by many family
members and friends that she never ceased to treat as if they were hers. She was an example
for all of us left here to learn how to live life with the best possible ways for completely enjoying
it. She was a jewel and something very special that will be missed by all.
